DualShock 4, rebuilt
I modeled a PS4 controller in SolidWorks, part by part.
The final project of my Technical Drawing course. I measured a real DualShock 4, modeled every part in SolidWorks, assembled it and produced the full set of technical drawings.

01Brief
Learn SolidWorks by drawing everything
SolidWorks is the main tool of an industrial designer, and this course taught it through practice: blocks, sections, shafts, assemblies and sheet metal, one assignment after another.
02Research
A real controller on the desk
For the final I picked something I use every day as a gamer. I measured a real DualShock 4 and rebuilt it from those measurements.
03Prototype
Every curve, every button
The shell is all curved surfaces, so I learned how to build them. Then came the inner frame with ribs and screw bosses, the buttons, triggers, analog sticks, battery and circuit board. Each part is its own file, and everything comes together in one assembly.
04Born
The final sheet
The project ended with an A2 drawing: every view, detail views, an exploded assembly and a parts list.
