Natural Drawing
Leaves, light and a lot of orange.
A first-year course in drawing from nature. I started with pencil studies of leaves and ended with an oil painting of a croton plant that was hung in the exhibition.

01Observe
Look closely, draw slowly
The course taught us to draw what is really in front of us: leaves, flowers, stems, the way light falls on a curved surface. It started with pencil and a lot of shading.
02Paint
From a photo to a canvas
For the final I painted a croton plant from a reference photo. I blocked in a warm orange background, then built the yellow and green leaves one by one.
03Born
On the wall
The finished painting hung in the course exhibition.
